Hi my name is Mark and I am a photographer living and working in Cornwall. I was born in Somerset, grew up in Bristol, lived in London and have now spent most of my life in Cornwall. I live in Tredrizzick, St Minver, North Cornwall, where I have lived for the last 17 years with my wife, young son and twin daughters.
I went to Gloucester College of Art and studied Editorial and Advertising Photography. While a student I was a finalist in the B&H Gold Awards and had photographs shown in the Hamilton's Gallery, Mayfair, London. I then lived and worked in London in the photography business. I worked as a photographer's assistant from 1986 to 1990 and I am extremely grateful to the photographers I worked for, learning and influenced by all. I worked for Ric Gemmel, Martin Brading, Richard Lohr, Jamie Morgan, Tim Evan Cook, Sean Knox, Lord Lichfield and Vogue to name a few. I gained a huge amount of experience and worked for Elle, Vogue, Marie Clare, Arena, Glamour, Italian Vogue, Next, Sportmax, Avis, British Airways and Sky.
I went out on my own in 1990 and I was hit hard by the recession of 1991, many clients went to the wall and I became disillusioned with the whole London scene and Editorial & Advertising photography. I left London and went to do a BA in Visual Communication at Wolverhampton University. I then went to Aberystwyth University to do a PGCE in Primary Education and became a teacher at St Minver Primary School in 1994. I have been taking images of the sea and surf ever since and hope to do more of this and less of the teaching. I have lectured in photography at Truro College and currently teach at Wadebridge Primary School and therefore experienced at teaching all ages and abilities.
Most of my recent clients work are shot digitally, it is what they want or need and I believe it is starting to be nearly as good as film, I love my Canon 5D. I shoot a lot for websites and PR work. I love taking pictures and pleasing clients with quality images. I am though a dual media photographer and I still shoot film, for landscapes and some portraits. I hand print black and white in my darkroom. I shoot on 35mm and 6x7 negative film. Most of my landscapes images are taken at dawn, before or after a surf, when the light is very special. Photography is all about light. I hope you enjoy viewing.

In 2010 I started photography workshops in and around the Polzeath and Rock area.
In 2011 I have started a partnership with the St Moritz Hotel and my photography workshops and started evening photography workshops.
In 2012 I plan to expand my interior and exterior photography and broaden my client base, it could be you.
