What is a Polzeath Photography Workshop?
So what is a Polzeath Photography Workshop ….? Well it is what you need if you want to improve your photography, from beginner to advanced. I often get asked which one is for me? and what will we do?
Well the simple answer to this is that for every workshop client I do a quick assessment of skills and knowledge by asking a few questions and watching you take a photograph. From here I know where to pitch it so you get the very most from your time with me and i also check exactly what you would like to gain and learn.
We then set about doing this in a very practical way in the stunning landscape of North Cornwall and Polzeath area. We will visit different locations on foot and work on getting the best shot from these places. We cover composition, lighting conditions, which lens to use, which f stop and shutter speed, taking light readings, using your camera's controls, using manual setting plus anything else you want to ask about or we encounter.
Throughout the workshop I will check that new techniques have been grasped and put into practice and guide you to your next steps. I give tips on using photoshop, types of lighting, portrait photography, travel photography, lifestyle photography and of course camera gear.
I really enjoy my photography workshops and ensure that you do too. Seeing someone learn something new or mastering a technique and becoming creative is very special as is seeing someone able to use their camera to its potential.

Hi Mark,
Whilst its all fresh in my mind feedback for website...
Mark offered an excellent 3 hour workshop on 'How to get more from
your camera'. It was very tailor made and responsive to my needs and
prior knowledge. Prior to the workshop I was comfortable in using
most of the autofocus and pre-set settings for landscapes, portraits
and dabbled in shutter mode priority.. Mark taught me how to use the
camera in the manual priority, understanding this opens a completely
new world in how to take photos and enables you to be much more arty
and inventive with various light conditions. Now a total fan of the
manual mode and hopefully will never resort back to using the auto
modes. Mark's workshops are very reasonably priced for the amount of
progress you make in such a short time. It's probably the best money
I've spent on my 'camera'!
Thanks for the workshop will enjoy practising the new skills over the
next few days.

We had a fantastic morning learning to use our digital slr camera with Mark at Trebarwith. We've owned the camera for 3 years and never learned how to use any of the functions beyond automatic settings. Mark explained how to use speed and light settings to create different effects and we practiced all morning in and around the stunning cliffs taking portraits and sea/landscapes. Mark's relaxed style, knowledge of photography and the local area made for a fantastic morning. If you've got a great camera but have never used it to it's full potential then I'd definitely recommend this workshop.

I can arrange custom workshops for individuals and groups. What is a custom workshop? It's whatever you would like it to be. Tailor the areas you most need help with, or particular locations, and take advantage of my 25 years of professional photography experience. The benefit of a custom workshop is that they are very small or even one to one. You could book with a group of friends or colleagues for a particular trip. I even do film photography workshops.
The minimum equipment you will need is a Digital Camera or 35mm film camera. Ideal would be an SLR Camera (Single Lens Reflex), tripod if you have or can borrow, wide angle lens, telephoto lens, spare batteries and memory cards or b&w film. Your camera's manual can be useful.
The workshops will run come rain or shine, in fact some of my favourite images have been taken in the rain on grey days. Also we often get all sorts of weather in one day, I have learnt to go with it and let it add to the landscape.
As we will be spending most of the time outside you will also need waterproof clothing, comfortable walking shoes and a holdall or rucksack to carry your equipment.
Clients can be picked up in Polzeath area.
You can pay by cheque,bacs, paypal or balance on the day.
Workshops make an ideal present, team building activity or a great day to include when on holiday.
Workshops should be booked 36 hours in advance, but I am flexible.
